Dr. Yemi Cardoso is a financial and development expert with over thirty years’ experience in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. With background in Citibank, Chase and Citizens International Bank, Dr. Yemi Cardoso, a Harvard educated financial and development expert with over thirty years’ experience in the private, public and non- for-profit sectors, was appointed Honorable Commissioner Economic Planning and Budget for Lagos State In 1999. In this capacity, he wrote and monitored the implementation of the blueprint which catalyzed economic development in the world’s sixth largest megacity.
A member of the Belgium-based Cities Alliance Think Tank which aims to shape and influence policy and decision making on urban development in Africa, Dr. Cardoso has served on the Board of several leading companies among which are Texaco and Chevron Oil Plc. and he has also very strong relationships with key international donor Agencies.
A graduate of Aston University and later Harvard Kennedy School where he was a Mason fellow, Mr. Cardoso consults on financial and development affairs and is also an advisor to the Urban Metabolism Group at MIT. In 2017, he was awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration by his alma mater, Aston University, in recognition of his “outstanding contributions to business and society.”
